Best, the industry’s leading analyst, awards its A- (Excellent) rating to Harleysville’s property/casualty operations based on the company’s “excellent risk-adjusted capitalization, improved operating performance, solid regional market franchise, as well as the future benefits to be derived from management's material corrective actions over the past several years.” Harleysville Life is rated B++ (Good). Moody's A3 rating reflects Harleysville’s “established regional presence in small business commercial lines insurance, its strong reserve position, its high-quality investment portfolio and very good cash flows, as well as its conservative financial leverage.” On April 17, 2008, Moody’s affirmed Harleysville’s ratings.
